ECSB - POST-DOCTORAL PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP 2020

VIRTUAL ECSB POST-DOCTORAL PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

17 November 2020

Have you recently finished your PhD Thesis in entrepreneurship and the small business field and are now wondering what’s coming next? Do you want to learn more about publishing your research? Do you need advice on your latest research proposal or an article you are working on? Do you want to set up (international) research collaborations, and are looking for collaborators? Join us at the next RENT post-doctoral paper development workshop!

You can read some testimonials and tutors’ recognition within this webpage https://ecsb.org/ecsb-post-doctoral-paper-development-workshop/ and about the benefits of this workshop.

The European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB) is offering a workshop for EARLY CAREER RESEARCHERS, with preference given to those who have finished their PhD within the past 5 years. A paper can be submitted both to the Virtual RENT conference and to the workshop; however admission to present a paper at the workshop does not secure its admission to be presented at the conference (i.e.: a paper in an initial stage of development).

The post-doctoral paper development workshop activity has two parts: a virtual event that takes place before the Virtual RENT conference and an on-line follow up. The virtual event starts with a roundtable discussion on the challenges in getting published, in building up your own research portfolio and in combining teaching and research. After that, you will break out in small groups and get your paper discussed by senior researchers and peers in the group. The on-line follow-up has some additional rounds of review (with peers and seniors) aimed at helping you to develop a working paper into a submission ready for referred, high quality journals. The event has a non-archival policy, in order to avoid copyrights restrictions or conflict with other archival publication venues.

Those papers presented at the 2020-2021 post-doctoral paper development workshop will be eligible for the POST-DOCTORAL PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP AWARD (8th edition), which aims to promote and reward high-quality research from early career researchers. The criteria will be the quality of the paper once it has passed all the rounds of review. The award winning paper will receive a certificate and a voucher to participate either in RENT or 3E within two years of the award.

The number of participants is limited to 12 researchers so we encourage early submission. A one-year ECSB membership fee is charged for participation in this workshop. Other benefits which result from becoming a member of ECSB can be found at https://ecsb.org/membership-benefits/. Participation in the Virtual RENT Conference is highly advised, but not compulsory. Please note that you become an ECSB member for one year by registering to the Virtual RENT2020 conference. No fees will thus apply to this Workshop in that case. For more information regarding the RENT conference, see www.rent-research.org.

The application should be sent to Cyrine Ben-Hafaïedh (c.benhafaiedh@ieseg.fr) no later than July 15, 2020. Applicants must include a one-page CV, the abstract of the paper and a cover letter (describing the motivation to attend, a short description of the research interests as well as specific issues about research or particular challenges faced earlier in your career and that would like to discuss). You will be notified of acceptance within two weeks after submission closes and you will be given an acceptance letter of inclusion of your paper in the Virtual ECSB post-doctoral paper development workshop. The submission of the final paper is due for October 1st. We would encourage you to pass on this message to anyone else who you know might like to apply.
